Today is special. Today means that nobody in this household has gotten sick in 12 hours. I'm one of the lucky ones who didn't actually contract the extremely contagious flu epidemic that went through the entire population of guests up at the farm at Christmas. Of which you probly all know, and probly all have experienced... So, now, I'm pretty happy that I don't have that comin' at me, except that every night I can barely sleep because I'm so scared I'm gonna wake up barfing...uhh, more than you probly wanted to know. Make a long story short, I'm proud of my super-dee-duperly-awesome immune system.
Next topic, umm... OOOhhhh! Today, we went skating! Ice skating! It was soooo cool! I love ice skating, and it's super cool when you actually have skates that fit you! (Not like I didn't have fun on the pond at the farm on skates that didn't actually fit me. I still had a blast.)
Okay, so I fell asleep after that there sentence last night:) I was mighty tired. Continuing on.... So, the ice skating now happens to be yesterday's activity. It was great, except for the part where I first got in trouble for bringing my camera on the ice and taking pictures of everyone who came with us(Dale, Amy, Emily, Logan, Sarah, Bryce and Weston Widhalm). After that, I got in trouble for being completely starving since I missed lunch, since I ate breakfast at 11:30, and I brought crackers on the ice. Yeah. He said it's not generally allowed. But there was no sign, so... ? Then I also got in trouble for helping Weston Widhalm. He's a little kid in our field and I don't think he'd ever skated on ice in his life. Anyway, we were all helping him and switching off helping him and by the time I got to him he was doing pretty good, but I decided he was going a little slow for my liking after 3 rounds of the rink took us at least 20 minutes. So I got him a chair. They use them at rinks for beginners, the beginner skater pushes the chair in front of them and the chair kinda stabilizes them and helps them learn the concept of gliding on the ice. Well, we did another 3 rounds of that, and it helped him quite a bit. He went a bit faster, but he got tired, and I didn't like going slow, so I decided to push him in the chair. Needless to say, that was the third thing I got in trouble for. It wasn't all bad trouble, just that the security or ice person came over and told me I couldn't do it. Anyway, we had a great time ice skating. It lasted about 4 hours and I could've kept going! Our old ice rink shut down several years ago, and I haven't gotten the chance to ice skating since then on an indoor rink. Oh, by the way, 2 times during the open skating hours, the zambonie came out on the ice. That's the monster that drives all over the ice putting warm water on the ice and smoothing out the cracks in the ice that mess you up. This inspired me when I saw the dude riding atop that majestic tower of steel, just gliding..... I'm gonna be a zambonie driver when I grow up. Just wanted to set you guys up for it. I wanted to be a crazy cat woman, but I guess I can do that later in life:)
Well, I've really gotta start downloading stuff off the internet, task sheets for my computer literature stuff I hafta get done over break. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and have an awesome New Years'! Toodles!

Complete Randomness: this is for you, kirstyn
Well, here it is. The requested blog. I'm finally up at a computer with as much time on my hands as I want to stay up for and use, and I have no idea what to write that would interest y'alls. I'll start with one concert I've had for a while now.
I'm a sophomore in high school with no idea or direction as to what I want to do as a career. I've given much thought to being a circus performer, tho:) I'm thinkin' one of those people that drive motorcycles around in the giant hamster ball, or maybe the acrobats. I have terrific balance. Ah-hem. Except for the time about a week ago, when I was holding this awesome plastic cup that you can scrape your name into the black part on the side. Anyway, I was holding that in my right hand, the side near the hand rail, and Emily was on my left. I slipped on the ice and didn't wanna drop my cool plastic cup to grab the handrail, so I grabbed Emily with my free hand and we both went down, like heroes. Or, actually, Emily went down. With her violin. and her purse which had taken up all her hands. and her backpack. Me, I had regained my balance with the grab I made for Emily, and so I stood a safe distance away from Emily, until I realized she didn't know I was the cause of her topple. Mah-Ha! MAh-HAh!!
Next topic. I'm completely broke and actually in debt(nothin' new there). I'm excited to get my new snowboarding gear in the mail soon, tho...and I still hafta get some money so I can actually GO snowboarding. I'm completely and utterly hyped about Amy coming home this Friday!!!!!!!!!!! This Monday, as in two days from now, is an important day for me. It's the first Christmas concert I'll be at where I'll be playing at the Civic Center! It's a huge shin-dig where all three top groups(Chanteur Choir, Symphonic Band, Chamber Orchestra) all get together(along with the jazz band, Russ Tones, and the equivalent for choir, Russell Ayres) and put on a concert for the community. It attracts tons of people because we send out invitations to each of the people we sold fruit to for the music dept. (btw, it ended up going really good for me--my minimum was $700, and I made $834), and so every year there's more people who come and decide they want to come the next year, too, and the next and the next, etc. You get the picture: I'm excited.
Right now, I'm sitting at the computer at Darryl and Ruth Benjamin's house, after a day of cleaning for their special meeting company, and an entire day of snow. This is one of those rare, only 3 times a year snow storms we've just *graciously* accepted from the Zeus the weather dude, who poured about a foot and a half on us here in Fort Benton, just today and last night. The snow drifts(AWesome!) are like 4 feet tall. No joke. I'm just itching to go home and get my snowpants on, and jump off the deck into it. Yah-Hooo0!!!
I've decided I'm not good at blogging, cuz I'm way too tired, as it is 12:04p.m. right now, to be writing a post, and way too exhausted to incorporate any enthusiasm or humor into this. I'll try again some other time when I have way too much time on my hands and I don't feel like going to bed. One last thing in parting, tho. Last night was my first in about a month that I've gone to sleep before midnight! Yay-hoo! And now, I'm back in my schedule of late to bed, early to rise. :( Second thing, just in parting, I can't believe our Sunday morning meeting has the nerve to finally have a potluck. on the day I'm gone. Grrr! No, jk. I'm having great fun here, and that will not end when I get in bed and go to sleep. See, here at Ruth's house, I have a bed that has leopard print sheets that are just awesome! I probly dream about them and penguins at night! (btw, the penguin part was completely random. no, you didn't miss anything). Third, and hopefully last thing, before I sign out(no, just X-out; does Amber ever sign out?) for the night: check out my profile. I actually decided to put some stuff on there. Okay. G'night, y'all.

Killing Time When There's No Time to Get Rid Of
Well, right now, it's about quarter to 10 pm and I still have 10 long proofs to do for geometry, and 2 different chapter sections to read for my biology quiz tomorrow. But, since I need something to inspire me to start my homework, I'm listening to Life Is A Highway by Chris Ledoux(the Rascal Flatts version is not acceptable) and having a fine time in my happy place.
So, to start out, the thing I've been looking forward since I ordered it Friday, is my camera battery's new charger! I haven't been able to use my beloved camera since about convention time when I lost my highly expensive and almost irreplaceable charger, and I'm super hyped about having it for the holidays! Another thing happening around here is an interior makeover of our house: to hear a rundown of it, read on.
1) we recently got some new couches
2) new carpet is being put in later this week
3) we're gonna paint the main living area of the house before the new carpet is put in, so it doesn't really matter if we get paint drips on the carpet. smart, huh?
and
4) Dad will hopefully get to finishing up the new flooring in the dining room and kitchen someday.
We're all looking forward to sort of having a new house. It'll be fun to come home from G&G Holder's house at turkey day, to a totally different house.
On Saturday, Kirstyn took me shopping...it would have been a bit more enjoyable with more than 20 dollars in my pocket, but as it was, my self-control was tried tremendously and I successfully walked out the doors with one pair of (beautiful) shoes and only 7 dollars in debt(to Kirstyn). However, as my feet are kinda freaks of nature, and my left is just a bit bigger than the right one which I always try on shoes with, I walked out oblivious to my future(wearing my beautiful shoes today and having the plastic lining on the top of my shoes cutting into my left ankle). Ahh, life is good, tho.
I realize this blog is maybe leaving something to be desired, but my mother just walked in and told me this was not necessary when I have homework to be done. Well, I hope I've gotten inspiration from the few words I've written here(it's improbable). In any case, I guess I gotta go get that doggone homework done. :( Til next post!

My first amazing day of having a blog! Yay!
My life right now is pretty boring compared to how Kirstyn jazzes up her life. ("On-line, I'm out in Hollywood, I'm...Six foot five and I look *dang* good! I drive a Mazzarratti(?) I'm a black belt in karate And I love a good glass of wine...." That's for you, Kirstyn:) Getting back to the topic at hand, my life as a high school student is not an exciting thing, except for when I occasionally read Kirstyn's blog and hear how she exaggerates embarrassing stories about me! Don't listen to her. It's not true! Anyway, today I got quite a chuckle outta that comment about her supervisor's text message received at work the other day. :D (if you haven't already, go check out that blog)
Hmm. I'll start with the basics: This morning the alarm went off at the time I irresponsibly set it for last night (6:30; the bus comes at seven, but I was just so tired from reading the incrdible book Kirstyn lent me (A Murder for Her Majesty) until about 2 o'clock that I decided to give myself more sleep time. So I woke up about a half hour later than I'm sposed to and then hit the snooze(i'm not always in my right mind at such an early hour of the morning). When I finally got out of bed, the first thought that went through my head was: Thank goodness I'm not on chickens this week! I fear they would be starving today, and laying eggs on top of eggs on top of eggs! If I ever in my unintelligent adult life consider having chickens, please remind me of this! Come to think of it, I somehow remember Dad saying that he hated chickens as a kid. So what does he do? Gets chickens so he can have fresh eggs and his kids can slide down the muddy hill in their grog-infested mind at unimaginable times of morning, on their rear ends of their favorite pj pants because their muck boots aren't doing their duty because they're all covered in mud! Aww, it's not actually that bad. I actually have an occasional fantastic moment when I have an excuse for chasing those crazy things around outside their pen trying to catch them. Believe it or not, they really do run like chickens. And I'm pretty sure their eyes actually do bug out when you chase them. I haven't gotten that close of a frontal view of one when it's running away from me, but I think it does happen. More stories on chicken duty if you return to "Amber's Happy Place" in 3 weeks when it's my chore again!
Going on, I got my hiney out of bed, grabbed my towel(s) and my robe and hopped through the basement with warm-outta-bed feet on the frozen cement basement floor and ran upstairs. As I got upstairs, I realized that the bathroom was conveniently in use. So I hauled myself into the living room and gratefully sank myself down into the marvellously comfy couch for a little cat nap while Emily did her hair. At this point, I am back to my completely muddled state of mind and forget to wake up. To keep a long story short, I had approximately 5 minutes to ready for school, which I took up mostly with a shower. I came out of the bathroom with my fuzzy lime green robe on and a self-invented turbin on my head and my mother(ice cream bless her dear young heart) was coming out of the kitchen with my breakfast in one hand, Logan's in the other, saying it was time to leave for the bus! So you see now why, when she was pregnant with me and while I was a baby and toddler, she had mass depression! :) jk...she had ESP(N). "Oh, no, Doctor! Take it back! Take it back!" Actually, that was Dad. He had us entertained at the dinner table the other night with a flawless and convincing rendition of Bill Cosby's "Lizard Baby" which entails the birth of the first child, the description of it(the baby) from the father's point of view, and also includes what Dad, the big ol' softy he is, assuring all of his own kids that we all looked like lizards when we were born too, and he was too scared to look at us until our skin shaped up out of the scaly red stuff or whatever characteristic it was that makes babies look like lizards. I'm so, totally getting off track.
What I wanted to say, was that I got to wear my cool knee-high winter socks today, which made my day start unbelievably awesomely. They are gray and wintery looking with pink and purple shapes all over them. I wore them with my corduroy, turquoise cowgirl skirt and my flip flops today, with a brown worn-out leather tunic and a mustard-yellow scarf. (Comments on this one, Kirstyn?) Just kidding. I wore it with a perfectly sensible long jean skirt and a hoodie. And, of course, close-toed birks.
I realize this post has gotten long. So, in the interest of my geometry grade(C, as of the report card Mom just opened a few minutes ago), I'll go get to my homework:( blech.
This whole diary type thing is actually pretty fun! I wasn't sure, cuz I shore don't like writing in a normal diary, but this is acceptable. :) Toodles for now, until the next time I don't have anything more interesting to do than this....
Wait, wait. I smell some buttery pillsbury doughboy orange cinnamon rolls in the oven, courtesy of Dad. I also smell your jealousy. OOoooohhhhh. Sorry, this is getting really cheezy, so I'll just stop now, when I'm still ahead of my reputation.
